All ACP meeting, Aid for Trade and Agriculture
A CTA and ECDPM dialogue meeting, Brussels, April 2008
A series of workshops organised in partnership with ECDPM was launched in 2008 on Aid for Trade and agriculture. The key objective is to draw lessons from other developed and developing countries on how to stimulate policies and practices, including in terms of development cooperation, that allow farmers and agribusiness stakeholders to adjust to the pressures from globalisation, and take advantage of the new opportunities it offers to develop their agriculture, diversify into other economic activities and connect to diverse markets, improving their living standards accordingly. The programme of the workshop centres around three questions:
- How have agricultural stakeholders been able to build up their competitiveness and deal with necessary adjustments in the face of changing market conditions?
- What policies and instruments have governments used to transform or adjust the sector?
- What can facilitate effective access to donor funding and new resources in this context?
