How to co-publish with CTA
Our co-publications cover a range of materials, in both print and electronic format –books, CDs, databases, movies and video. We work with a range of partners, particularly ACP authors and publishers, to produce these materials.
We support publications in different ways. We sometimes fund production costs and buy back a limited number of copies for free distribution; or we fund the translation and all or part of the production costs of an already published book or series. Occasionally we work with an author or publisher to develop content and see the publication through the editing and production processes.
If you would like to co-publish with CTA, please contact us well in advance of the intended production dates. We shall then ask you to submit a proposal, which should cover:
the structure or table of contents (if no manuscript or sample text is available)
- if available, the complete manuscript or sample chapters (for book proposal), script or scenario (for film or video proposal), sample or prototype (for CD or database)
- information on the author(s)
- the target audience
- distribution/access considerations
- an itemised estimate of production costs
- information on other potential partner
Co-publishing proposals are reviewed on a monthly basis. The main selection criteria are:
- relevance to agricultural and rural development in ACP countries
- conformity to CTA's thematic orientation (strategic plan)
- value for money
- geographical coverage
- technical level and style
- reliability of the technical and scientific content
- extent to which the content is innovative, practical and likely to remain valid after publication
- originality – no duplication of existing publications
- timeliness
- format (print /electronic)
