Andrew Shepherd will then travel to to Fiji for meetings in Suva on Monday 15th April. He will meet with the University of the South Pacific and the Pacific Islands Islands Private Sector Organisation. He will then travel to Nadi for the Foundation Conference, which will officially launch the Pacific Island Farmer Organisation Network (PIFON). Some 13 farmers' organisations from the region are expected to attend this inaugural conference. Finally, Andrew will take part in a three-day meeting on value chains organised by SPC and funded by CTA.
Michael Hailu, Director of CTA, and Andrew Shepherd, Senior Technical Advisor for Market-led Development, will visit the Pacific from 8th to 20th April 2013. In Samoa they will hold a series of meetings with the Minister of Agriculture, Hon. le Mamae Ropati Mualia, Samoan officials, regional organisations based in the capital, Apia, and the private sector. Following this, they will ten take part in FAO's 10th meeting of Southwest Pacific Ministers of Agriculture, an event that is expected to attract around 70 participants from around the region.
