CTA welcomes Rwandan Minister of Agriculture

Dr. Agnes Kalibata, Rwandan Minister of Agriculture & Animal Resources, visted CTA Offices in Wageningen.

The delegation, led by the honorable Dr. Agnes Matilda Kalibata, Minister of Agriculture and Animal Resources (MINAGRI), Rwanda, included his Excellency Ambassador Jean Pierre Karabaranga, Ambassador of Rwanda to the Netherlands, Dr. Jean Jacques Muhinda Mbonigaba, Director General of Rwanda Agriculture Board, and Ms Jolly Dusabe, Coordinator of Land Husbandry at the Water Harvesting and Irrigation and Rural Sector Support Project III (RSSP III). In addition, some 15 Rwandan students from Wageningen University were also invited to attend.

Honorable Dr. Kalibata and Ambassador Karabaranga, joined the rest of the delegation for a briefing by CTA director, Michael Hailu, and a number of CTA staff on activities at the Centre. As well as providing an overview of CTA's main achievements under the 2011-2015 Strategic Plan, CTA staff presented the latest developments around the 2013 international conference, 'ICT4Ag', which is being cohosted by MINAGRI. The meeting finished with a discussion on future collaboration opportunities between CTA and MINAGRI. Spore journalists used the occasion to record an interview with the Minister for an upcoming edition of the magazine.
