SIDS well represented at IFPRI 2020

May 14, 2014

CTA is supporting several Pacific and Caribbean journalists and knowledge management professionals to attend IFPRI’s global conference ‘Building resilience for food and nutrition security’ which takes place from 15-17 May 2014 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

The ten representatives from the Small Island Developing States (SIDS) will take part in an intensive one day social reporting training programme organised by IFPRI and Farming First. They will then put their newly acquired skills to the test throughout the conference reporting on the various sessions and events.

In total twenty participants are supported to attend the 2020 conference through the intra ACP Agricultural Policy Programme. The aim is twofold: firstly to highlight issues surrounding resilience in Small Island States through a high level panel emphasising the need for research in this area. Secondly through a network of Knowledge Management (KM) and Communications officers from the Caribbean and Pacific regions to exchange lessons learnt across the region and take examples from other parts of the world.

The KM team begins work today, 14 May, at the pre conference communications workshop run by Farming First and IFPRI providing communications plan and social media training.
