Reinforcing our team

CTA is delighted to announce the arrival of four new colleagues in May 2014. All four are experts in their field with significant international experience. The appointments are a measure of CTA's commitment to achieving the goals set out in its Strategic Plan 2011-2015.

Juan Cheaz, from the Dominican Republic, takes on the role of Senior Programme Coordinator for Agricultural Policy and Value Chains. Juan has over 20 years international development experience and joins CTA from the Latin American Centre for Rural Development (RIMISP) where he was the Principal Researcher/Coordinator of 'Partnerships for Economic Empowerment.

Joining Juan in Agricultural Policy and Value Chains is Dr. Youssouf Camera. A native of Côte d'Ivoire, Youssouf also has substantial experience in development and spent the past four years with UNECA where he was Economic Affairs Officer. He has also in-depth field work experience in commodity markets and price analyses in several countries in West Africa. Youssouf is also Senior Programme Coordinator.

CTA's new Senior Technical Advisor for Policies and Markets is Ethiopian national, Dr. Yihenew Zewdie. A CAADP expert, Yihenew has most recently worked as a consultant with FARA as a member of the International Expert Panel and its Synthesis Team to develop the Science Agenda for agriculture in Africa. Prior to this, he was a Senior CAADP Policy Advisor at the African Union Commission.

Joining our Corporate Services team is José Luis Mena from Spain. An economist and lawyer by training, José Luis takes up the post of Procurement Officer. He brings to CTA impressive expertise and experience in procurement and finance at international level. Prior to CTA, he held various positions in the European Union.
