UWI/CTA/NAMDEVCO workshop Postharvest Management Strategies

24-25 February 2014, Trinidad

June 18, 2014

Improved methods to reduce postharvest losses of fresh produce as well as minimally processed products, was the focus of a workshop conducted through a collaboration between CTA, the UWI and the National Agricultural Marketing and Development Corporation (NAMDEVCO).

The workshop, which took place in Trinidad from 24-25 February 2014, targeted field officers, certified farmers, produce managers, exporters and technical experts. This training came out of recommendations from the third ISHS Conference on 'Postharvest and Quality Management of Horticultural Products of Interest in Tropical Regions', which was held in Trinidad in July 2013 with the support of CTA. Please find on the K4D website a training manual that was prepared for the workshop along with a press release in the UWI Faculty of Food and Agriculture News Bulletin and Judith Francis' presentation 'Adding Value to Local Foods: Lessons from a Caribbean Survey'.
