UN Climate Summit underway

The UN Climate Summit takes place in New York on 23 - 24 September 2014.

The UN Secretary General has called on leaders from government, business, finance and civil society to make a meaningful commitment and to "lead by example and bring bold actions and ideas and strong political vision and political will."

CTA's Director, Michael Hailu, will attend the summit and will take part in the sessions on agriculture and resilience scheduled for the afternoon of 23 September.

Speakers at the agriculture session which runs from 16:30-17:20 local time, include H.E. Mr. Issoufou, President of Niger, H.E. Ms Dlamini-Zuma, Chair of the African Union Commission, Mr. Sunga, CEO of SACAU and Mr. Duke, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors, Walmart International.

The resilience session follows from 17:30-18:30 local time and includes speakers such as H.E. Mr Stuart, Prime Minister of Barbados, H.E. Mr. Piebalgs, European Commissioner for Development, EU, and Ms Rodin, President of the Rockefeller Foundation.
