There is a growing recognition of the need for more private sector partnerships in the development field in order to create jobs, promote economic development with the aim of combating poverty in ACP countries. This event aims to reach agreement on a common ‘All ACP’ platform for action to stimulate growth and expansion of the private sector in the regions.
Some 100 private and public sector stakeholders from ACP missions, embassies, intermediary organisations, ACP Regional Economic Communities, International Organisations and other development partners will gather for the discussions. Sessions will be moderated by Mr Achille Bassilekin, ACP Secretariat, H.E. Mr. Daniel Evina Abe’e, Ambassador of Cameroon and Chairman of the Investment & Private Sector sub-committee, and H.E. Ms Vilma McNish, Ambassador of Jamaica.
The result of the two-day dialogue should be concrete recommendations on the operationalisation of the Private Sector Strategy in ACP countries and regions. The results of the Symposium will be submitted to the Council of Ambassadors for consideration in the 100th Session of the ACP Council of Ministers scheduled to take place in December.
