Ben Bennett

Head, Food and Markets Department at Natural Resources Institute, University of Greenwich

Professor Ben Bennett is Deputy Director of the Natural Resources Institute, University of Greenwich, UK, and Deputy Faculty Director of Research and Enterprise.  He holds the Chair in International Trade and Marketing Economics at the University of Greenwich.  

Ben has worked for 28 years in the area of value chains, commodity marketing, trade and postharvest losses for a wide range of commodities in more than 40 countries.  

He is the Project Manager of the IFAD project Increasing the Performance of the Cassava Industry in West and Central Africa (IPCI), and the lead marketing economist for NRI on the Bill and Melinda Gates funded Cassava Adding Value in Africa (C:AVA) project.  

He is proud to have been a member of the NRI Team that was recognised with a Queen’s Anniversary Prize for Higher Education in 2015 for work on cassava value chains.
