Presentation (in French): Interprofessions agricoles : théorie et pratique

Jean-Luc Poirier holds a master's degree in training management from the Université de Sherbrooke in Quebec, Canada. Consultant since 2005, he has been involved in development projects in Africa with various international agricultural organizations, including the Union of Agricultural Producers - International Development (UPA-DI), IFAD and FAO.

Since 1992, he has been interested in the interprofessional approach. At that time, the Quebec government was putting in place the chain approach to enable agricultural value chain actors to communicate and coordinate their efforts to research and market agricultural products. Later in the 2000s, Mr. Poirier was part of the team that set up the first formal interprofession in Quebec: the Co-ordinating Chamber of the Strawberry and Raspberry Sector in Quebec.
Today it is an essential organization in the field of generic promotion and research.

Recently, Mr. Poirier also conducted a consultation for the establishment of a similar organization covering the production of strawberries and raspberries for all Canadian provinces. He is currently working with the Interdisciplinary Federation of Ornamental Horticulture of Quebec to establish a coordination chamber to promote ornamental plants in Quebec.
