Lamon Rutten

Manager of the Policies, Markets and ICT Programme of CTA

Lamon Rutten is the current manager of the Policies, Markets and ICTs programme of CTA. He has thirty years of experience in the commodity and financial sectors.

Previously, MD/CEO of the Multi Commodity Exchange of India, which he brought from a global 8th position when he started in 2006 to world's second largest commodity exchange when he left in 2012 after leading a US$ 1.5 billion IPO. Past MD/CEO of Africa's largest collateral management firm. 

Set up and managed, for 15 years, UNCTAD's programme on commodity risk management and finance. Was senior advisor with the World Bank. Lectured for several years at the prestigious Institute of Banking and Financial Management, HEC Lausanne. Has undertaken advisory assignments with World Bank/IFC, AfDB, EBRD, FAO and others in dozens of countries worldwide.

Author of 80+ of books and papers on commodity risk management and finance. Has held Board and Advisory Board positions in organisations in the US, Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia, and has been member of various expert panels, including with the B20 (the business leaders' forum accompanying the G20 process), the UN's Leading Group on Innovative Finance and the Climate Bond Initiative.
