Agritourism Policy Setting workshop, 21-22 November 2017, Honiara, Solomon Islands
A two-day workshop is being organised by the Government of the Solomon Islands in partnership with CTA, the Pacific Island Private Sector Organisation (PIPSO), the South Pacific Tourism Organisation (SPTO), the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), and the Pacific Community (SPC). All key stakeholders in the agriculture, tourism, trade and health sectors will be brought together with the aim of developing and supporting local businesses in serving tourism-related markets in the Solomon Islands.

A Multi-sectoral, Gender-sensitive Approach is the Way Forward
CTA and the Pacific Islands Private Sector Organization (PIPSO), in collaboration with the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) held a national workshop in Suva Fiji on 28-29 June on 'Promoting Nutritious Food Systems in the Pacific Islands' within the framework of the ongoing CTA/IFAD/PIPSO project.
At the European Development Days (EDDs) in Brussels, on 7 June 2017, a joint statement committing to the new European Consensus on Development was officially signed by the European Union and its Member States. The Consensus lays out the core principles that will direct the EU and its member states’ approach and cooperation with developing countries in achieving the 2030 sustainable development agenda.
Partners in the Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation’s (CTA) regional flagship project have unveiled country plans for promoting weather-index insurance and drought-tolerant crop varieties as part of resilient solutions for smallholder farmers to cope with climate change.
