13th Caribbean Week of Agriculture

CTA participated in the Caribbean Week of Agriculture which will took place in Suriname, Paramaribo from 6-12 October 2014 under the theme: "Transforming Caribbean Agriculture through Family Farming".

The Ministry of agriculture, animal husbandry and fisheries of the Government of Suriname is the organizer of the event in collaboration with the Caribbean Community and Common Market (CARICOM) Secretariat.

In 2014, CTA celebrates 30 years of service to agricultural and rural development in Africa, the Caribbean and Pacific (ACP). The Centre is proud to mark this milestone and acknowledges the contribution of its many partners in its endeavour to advance food and nutritional security, increase prosperity and encourage sound natural resource management.

CTA is working together with FAO and the World Rural Forum to give greater visibility to the International Year of Family Farming (IYFF) in ACP countries through a variety of activities. And as 2014 is also the International Year of Small Islands States, an online dossier that presents the views of CTA experts on "Rejuvenating family farming" in the Caribbean and the Pacific has been created and is accessible through CTA website.
