Farmer access to stress-tolerant seeds for climate adaptation

Adverse impacts of climate change and extreme weather conditions are becoming more frequent, and have de facto become the new norm in SA region. While stress-tolerant seeds offer opportunities to help farmers adapt to the unpredictable weather conditions, but it must be clear what the seeds do, how they are different from what farmers are already growing. There is need for genuine engagement with farmers to enable them assess the type of seeds are available and how effective they are for different situations that farmers face and the preferences of farmers. The seed fair will strengthen and stimulate linkages and information sharing among farmers, private sector seed companies, rural development change agents, researchers and agro-dealers on stress-tolerant seeds that can help farmers to better adapt to climate change. The seed fair will be held in Zimbabwe.
