Central Africa: Cassava cultivation revisited

The forum is holding under the theme, "Challenges and Opportunities for Smallholders." It will be highlighted by conferences, exhibitions and guided visits to run till 9th December 2016.

Opening the forum, the Minister Delegate at the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Clementine Ananga Messina called on participants to seek ways of promoting cassava in the sub region.

The participants including representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture, the Food and Agricultural Organisation, the European Union and other agrictural partners will review partnerships in the cassava sector and establish new ones.

They will also discuss strategies to increase food security, look at diseases affecting the cassava crop and seek ways to stop declining soil fertility.The experts will also work on traditional scientific approaches and modern tools of bio-technology towards increased productivity.Eleanor Ayuketah
