Call for membership to Africa’s first women in agribusiness digital network

Published on Monday, 6 January 2020.

#VALUE4HERConnect is Africa’s first agribusiness intelligence platform aimed at facilitating growth and development of women-owned agribusiness enterprises. A core initiative of CTA’s VALUE4HER programme, the platform seeks to expand women’s presence in markets where they trade, access new markets nationally, regionally and internationally, and to acquire the capital, business and technical partners and resources required to support their growing businesses. The platform also acts as a valuable database for a diverse group of sustainable agriculture-oriented partners seeking female business partners to fund, trade with, procure and source from.

#VALUE4HERConnect provides customised market information and intelligence services related to national, regional and international business expansion. The platform serves as a first point of call for women wanting to do business and trade in African and global agricultural markets. The platform’s key pillars have been structured to allow women business owners to interact on real-time basis across Africa, and to access market information and business intelligence they need to overcome current information asymmetry inhibiting their business growth.

In its first call for membership, #VALUE4HERConnect registered 500 women agri-businesses, in partnership with AWAN AFRIKA and AWIEF, who are core implementers of the VALUE4HER programme. Our joint ambition is to grow this digital network of women agribusinesses to 100,000 by December 2020, to make it a one-stop-shop for large buyers seeking agricultural commodities or products.

If you are a woman-owned agribusiness, have been in operation for 3 years and have a minimum turn over of $20,000, you qualify to be a member of VALUE4HERConnect community.

Vouch Digital: Tracking development impacts in real time

In the face of recurring famine and drought in Karamoja, Uganda, the area is receiving enormous developmental interventions by developmental agencies, NGOs, governments, private companies. Most if not all of these initiatives share one aspect in common lack of transparency and accountability, a scenario where organisations are not sure if the interventions reach the target beneficiaries.
