CTA is seeking to identify the services of reputable companies for the service contract “Consultancy for the Youth Economic Empowerment through Agribusiness in Kenya (Vijabiz) project".

The Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation (CTA) is an international institution of the African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) Group of States and the European Union (EU). Its mission is to advance food and nutritional security, increase prosperity and encourage sound natural resource management in ACP countries. CTA promotes information and knowledge sharing; supports the development and implementation of evidence-based, multi-stakeholder policies and strategies; promotes inclusive value chain development and use of ICTs; and strengthens the capacities of agricultural and rural development institutions and communities across the ACP. CTA operates under the framework of the Cotonou Partnership Agreement and is funded by the EU.

The Youth Economic Empowerment through Agribusiness in Kenya (Vijabiz) is a joint project of the Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation (CTA), the Kenya-based USTADI Foundation (USTADI) and International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD). It is implemented by CTA and USTADI Foundation, in Nakuru and Kilifi counties.

The consultancy tasks have been divided into two lots (1-2). A company can apply for one or both Lots, depending on their experience, capacity and expertise.

Lot 1 comprises two (2) separate assignments:

  • Identify at least 20 opportunities for value addition along the three value chains (dairy, cereals and fisheries)
  • Conduct market analysis of the agribusiness products identified above (demand, supply, quality and standards, consumption, competitors)

Lot 2 comprises two (2) separate assignments:

  • Manage the identification of key gaps to business success
  • Accelerate and develop growth strategy

Tenders must be sent to the attention of Ms. Christine Webster, Senior Procurement and Grants Coordinator, CTA, Agro Business Park 2, 6708 PW Wageningen, The Netherlands and must arrive at CTA at the latest on 23 April 2019 at 5 p.m. CET, by registered letter with acknowledgement of receipt. Alternatively, tenders may be sent by express courier or delivered physically, against an acknowledgement of receipt, at the latest by 5 p.m CET to the following address: CTA, Agro Business Park 2, 6708 PW Wageningen, The Netherlands.

In accordance with the “Instructions for Tenderers”, tenderers may send questions by e-mail to the address mentioned in the letter of invitation to tender up to 21 calendar days prior to the tender submission deadline, specifying the contract reference.
