AAS and IPCC report on climate change in Africa

AAS and IPCC report on climate change in Africa

Event Overview

The meeting is co-convened by United Nations University Institute for Natural Resources in Africa (UNU-INRA), the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and the African Academy of Sciences (AAS) in collaboration with the University of Ghana and is held to examine the IPCC 1.5 report and its implications for Africa.

The meeting focuses on drafting a white paper on climate change research and policy priorities that the African Academy of Sciences (AAS) should focus on for Africa. Presentations and ensuing conversations to be led by senior officials of the IPCC seek to break down complex concepts to make the report accessible to stakeholders and to enhance ownership and responsibility for recommendations. The meeting is used to host the inaugural meeting of AAS Committee on Climate and the Environment.
