African Green Revolution Forum 2019 - Plenary session – Leveraging digitalisation for sustainable food systems

Event Overview

This session will launch the AGRF 2019 as a key platform to continue advancing the continental agenda, particularly by taking advantage of the digital era. It will present the key findings of The Digitalisation of African Agriculture Report - 2018/2019, which will be followed by a panel discussion to help expand on the areas in which further investment in digitalisation can accelerate progress towards increasing smallholder productivity, profitability and resilience and create greater opportunities for youth and women. It will aim at proposals for concrete actions to mainstream D4Ag into the African agricultural transformation agenda. The session will include key announcements by organisations that are bringing the promise to life by coming through on commitments for African agriculture.

The Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA), based in Nairobi Kenya, is an alliance led by Africans with roots in farming communities across the continent. African farmers need uniquely African solutions designed to meet their specific environmental and agricultural needs so they can sustainably boost production and gain access to rapidly growing agriculture markets. AGRA’s mission is to trigger a uniquely African Green Revolution, transforming African agriculture to a sustainable system that lifts millions out of poverty.
