Collaboration with the UNDP GEF-SGP in Fiji – field visit in Bua (Fiji Islands)

Collaboration with the UNDP GEF-SGP in Fiji – field visit in Bua (Fiji Islands)

Event Overview

In the framework of its Pacific Regional Business Plan, CTA is in the process of finalising a series of initiatives in partnership with the UNDP GEF-SGP programme aimed at conducting island-wide P3DM exercises whence local communities will visualise and geo-locate their local knowledge concerning resource distribution, use and access. The processes will contribute to the development of climate-smart sustainable resource management plans, geared towards organic feed production.

After a series of meetings in Suva, Mr Giacomo Rambaldi  and officers of concerned authorities and agencies will conduct a field visit on 12-13 November 2015 in Bua and Vuya.

Organisers

  • CTA

The Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation (CTA) is a joint international institution of the African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) Group of States and the European Union (EU). Its mission is to advance food security, resilience and inclusive economic growth in Africa, the Caribbean and the Pacific through innovations in sustainable agriculture. CTA operates under the framework of the Cotonou Agreement and is funded by the EU.

  • UNDP GEF-SGP

Established in 1992, the year of the Rio Earth Summit, the GEF Small Grants Programme embodies the very essence of sustainable development by "thinking globally acting locally". By providing financial and technical support to projects that conserve and restore the environment while enhancing people's well-being and livelihoods, SGP demonstrates that community action can maintain the fine balance between human needs and environmental imperatives.
