Aichetou Ba


As a junior consultant at CTA, Aichetou’s role involves support to project management for the agribusiness and value chain team as well as results monitoring for the Learning Monitoring and Evaluation (LME) department. The projects she is involved in are in Western and Central Africa and are mainly focused on building capacities of youth and female in the agricultural sector. The gender aspects are of particular interest to her as can vouch her choice to focus her master’s thesis in Agricultural Economics in the role of women in the decision to adopt improved seeds. She studied in the USA and in Germany and has three years of professional experiences in different countries. She is building her career in agricultural development as she believes that agriculture will strongly contribute to the economic growth of developing countries.

The Farmers’ Hub project, supported by CTA and the Syngenta Foundation for a Sustainable Agriculture (SFSA), is benefiting young farmers in Mali and Senegal. The initiative aims to improve the productivity and quality of fruit and vegetable farming using greenhouses, whilst creating youth employment opportunities. After a year of operation, the young agripreneurs have shown promising results and significant profits.
