Biography
Dr Benjamin Addom is an agricultural information specialist with a particular focus on using new ICTs for supporting EAS. He has over 20 years of experience with smallholder farming, including working on EAS provision; agricultural research and development approaches; resource mobilisation; and designing and grant making to support agriculture. He holds a doctorate in information science and technology from Syracuse University’s School of Information Studies, USA; and a master’s in international agriculture and rural development from Cornell University, USA. At CTA, he is currently managing the ‘Market-led, User-owned ICT4Ag-enabled Information Service’ project among other responsibilities.

In January 2020, the COVID-19 outbreak which started in Wuhan - China was declared by the World Health Organisation as ‘pandemic’. Since that time, the COVID-19 pandemic has speedily spread across the world and caused significant impacts on many sectors of the economy globally. As of early August 2020, more than 800,000 cases and 13,779 deaths have been confirmed across 53 countries in Africa, with South Africa and Egypt being the hardest hit countries.
