Gian Nicola Francesconi

Biography

Nicola Francesconi holds a PhD in development economics from Wageningen University (The Netherlands) and an MSc in agribusiness from Scuola Superiore S.Anna (Italy). He lived and worked in Africa for 13 years, focusing on research (impact evaluations and organisational diagnostics), capacity building and public-private partnerships in support of agricultural cooperatives and farmer organisations. In July 2016, he relocated to The Netherlands to start working as Senior Technical Adviser on Cooperative Agribusiness Development for CTA and the EU. In his current position Dr Francesconi is responsible for leading and developing the Enhancing Development through Cooperatives project (EDC), financed by OCDC, OXFAM, CIAT and CTA.
