Agriculture is Africa’s largest economic sector, representing 15% of the continent’s total GDP and accounting for more than 20% of its annual economic growth. This session will consider how to develop agribusiness activities, both downstream (processing) and upstream (input provision), and sustainably link smallholders and small enterprises to structured value chains.
In Mali and Senegal, youth unemployment in rural areas is a key driver for urban migration and emigration to Europe. Low income, underutilisation of skills and low productivity are some of the problems that youth experience.
CTA is hosting this one-day workshop as part of its Data4Ag week activities to bring the collective knowledge of actors across the weather data value chain to help document the challenges and opportunities for open weather data for agriculture and nutrition.
