Agriculture is Africa’s largest economic sector, representing 15% of the continent’s total GDP and accounting for more than 20% of its annual economic growth. This session will consider how to develop agribusiness activities, both downstream (processing) and upstream (input provision), and sustainably link smallholders and small enterprises to structured value chains.
CTA initiated a regional project “Scaling-Up Climate-Smart Agricultural Solutions for Cereals and Livestock Farmers in Southern Africa" to strengthen the resilience of smallholder maize and livestock farmers to climate extremes.
The Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs, GODAN Action, CTA and Wageningen University & Research are collaborating to organise a workshop on creating value added services for agriculture with weather data. The workshop is hosted by the Ministry of Economic Affairs.
