Agricultural transformation is a priority in the policy agenda of African governments in their quest to meet the challenges of food and nutrition insecurity, climate change, youth unemployment and overall economic growth. With the right policies, innovation and investment, the continent’s agriculture could be transformed into a powerhouse not only to feed a growing population but to create decent employment for millions of young people.
The 2020 African Drone Forum comprises a symposium, an exposition and a flying competition. The symposium and the exposition take place in Kigali from February 5 to 7, 2020. Competitive flights start on February 8, 2020.
The workshop is based on two current projects (EIT-Food project ‘Focus on Farmers’ and ICT-AGRI Era Net project ‘iFAROS’) and focuses on the challenges in adoption of modern technologies on European farms and issues associated with agricultural data sharing.
The 2019 Grand Challenges Annual Meeting is co-hosted by the African Union, Ethiopia’s Ministry of Health, Grand Challenges Canada, the United States Agency for International Development and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The meeting includes scientific tracks, with sessions running in parallel, and a series of complementary plenary sessions and side meetings.
