Caribbean Week of Agriculture 2016

Aperçu de l'événement

The Government of Cayman Islands, in collaboration with the Caribbean Community and Common Market (CARICOM) Secretariat and CTA among other partners, is organising the 2016 Caribbean Week of Agriculture (CWA), from Monday 24 to Friday 28 October 2016 in Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands. The theme for this year’s event is “Investing in Food & Agriculture”.

CWA is an annual event that brings together key decision-makers and stakeholders from the public and private sectors who are active in the Caribbean agricultural development space. It provides an annual platform for these stakeholders to acknowledge the importance of agriculture to the economic, social and environmental stability of the region, while giving them the opportunity to dialogue and establish a common purpose towards repositioning agriculture and enhancing rural life.

Les organisateurs

  • IICA

As the specialised agency of the Inter-American System for agriculture, the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA) supports the efforts of the Member States to achieve agricultural development and rural well-being. The Institute provides its cooperation through daily, close and permanent collaboration with its 34 Member States, whose needs it addresses expeditiously in order to achieve increasingly inclusive, competitive and sustainable agriculture. Without a doubt, IICA’s most valuable asset is the close relationship it maintains with the beneficiaries of its work. Since our institution was founded, we have acquired a wealth of experience in areas such as technology and innovation for agriculture, agricultural health and food safety, agribusiness, agricultural trade, rural development, natural resource management and training.

  • CTA

  • FAO

Achieving food security for all is at the heart of FAO's efforts – to make sure people have regular access to enough high-quality food to lead active, healthy lives. FAO's three main goals are: the eradication of hunger, food insecurity and malnutrition; the elimination of poverty and the driving forward of economic and social progress for all; and, the sustainable management and utilization of natural resources, including land, water, air, climate and genetic resources for the benefit of present and future generations.
