Enterprise development and experience capitalisation workshop

Enterprise development and experience capitalisation workshop

Aperçu de l'événement

In line with this continent-wide policy recommendation, CTA decided to support an increase in the number of UAS operators and countries covered across Africa. In this context, CTA has launched a project focusing on Sub-Saharan Africa, known as "Transforming African agriculture: Eyes in the Sky, Smart Techs on the Ground".

Following the experiences of entrepreneurs who benefitted from CTA support in 2017, CTA is organising this workshop to support partner organisations (UAS operators) to improve the structure and management of their business and plan of short to medium term actions aimed at improving business efficiency.

During the workshop and with the help of an experienced facilitator and an UAS expert, participants analyse their experience so far, exchange opinions and ideas and start consolidate some of their most significant experiences in the form of one or more articles. Participants also benefit from a series of sessions focusing on the exposure on enterprise / business development.

The workshop sessions address the following aspects of the process of experience capitalisation:

General presentation of "experience capitalisation" as a practice:

  • basic concepts, principles, conditions for maintaining focus on learning, and, learning by doing and reflection on practice, the stages of the process, linkages between experience capitalisation and knowledge management.

Planning and implementation of the experience capitalisation process. Participants:

  • Describe their overall experiences, what was done and what resulted, challenges faced.
  • Identify and prioritise critical experiences worth for capitalisation and define the boundaries: description of the specific context, description of the problems being addressed, specific objectives of the experiences.
  • Refine descriptions of identified critical experiences.
  • Analyse the experiences: what was achieved or not (through reflection); defining an analysis framework and documenting the analyses.

Drawing insights, learnings, lessons, conclusions and recommendations:

  • How to present the results of documented experiences to selected target audiences; how to identify the most appropriate communication products (including multimedia) and channels (including social media).
  • Start the process of documentation, produce a first draft, obtain peer feedback and refine the draft (~ 500 words).

Plan post-workshop action points:

  • Additional information gathering, illustrations, drafting and editing of the text, continuing interaction with other participants and facilitator.
  • Preparing for the use of the products of capitalisation: Editing, publishing and distribution, engagement of stakeholders.
