The 11th Global Forum for Food and Agriculture (GFFA) is held in Berlin from 17 to 19 January 2019 on the subject "Agriculture Goes Digital – Smart Solutions for Future Farming”.
Realising trends, insights and predictions from large agricultural data sets, and using digital tools for advisory services have huge potential for smallholder farmers. However, to use it effectively, data protection, governance and rightful access should be ensured. To shed light on this matter, CTA and FAO are hosting an expert panel on 'Big Data for Smallholder Agriculture Transformation' during the GFFA.
The session explores the potential of big data analytics, digital solutions and policy implications of these in transforming smallholder agriculture.
