Promoting climate finance for agriculture in East & Southern Africa

Promoting climate finance for agriculture in East & Southern Africa

Aperçu de l'événement

CTA in collaboration with NEPAD and FANRPAN organises a regional workshop bringing together countries in East and Southern Africa and other relevant stakeholders to discuss cross-country issues and lessons learnt in increasing finance to support climate action for agriculture, particularly smallholder agriculture in the region.

The regional workshop brings together academia, private sector, government, UN agencies, regional agricultural development organisations, finance institutions, farmers and youth to share and discuss the synthesis of the country case studies commissioned on NDC and climate finance from East and Southern Africa. It is also used as an opportunity to take stock of NEPAD and FANRPAN interventions with regards to the development of climate finance for agriculture in particular and climate-smart agriculture in general. Through case studies from selected countries in the region, the workshop aims to synthesise key issues in the country reports to encourage cross-country learning on climate finance and, including needs and opportunities (partnerships, capacity building) to scale up and out climate resilience in the region. A key outcome is to discuss approaches to raise the profile of agriculture in the implementation of NDCs, and to identify priority regional action points relevant finance mechanisms and models for co-investment from the private sector and, partnership opportunities for climate actions in agriculture in the region.
